South Tyrol’s number-one ski mountain transforms into a paradise for adventurers and connoisseurs in summer. A cable car conveniently takes you to the summit, where a 360-degree panorama of the Dolomites and vast parts of the Alps awaits you. In addition to challenging bike trails and downhill routes, there are numerous hiking paths and a rich cultural programme: besides Reinhold Messner’s MMM Corones – the architectural masterpiece by Zaha Hadid impresses as much as its contents – and the Lumen Museum for mountain photography, you should visit the open-air gallery Via Artis, where sustainability and art are combined with movement.

Around St. Lorenzen, countless hiking opportunities spread out in a star shape – from easy alpine walks to challenging summit ascents. To the south and east, the famous Dolomites beckon with highlights such as the Three Peaks (Drei Zinnen) and Lake Braies (Pragser Wildsee). To the north lie the Ahrntal (a valley), Tauferer Tal (another valely), and Antholz with the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park, where numerous impressive 3,000-meter peaks and diverse tours await you. The Kronplatz and the Badia valley with the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park are also worthwhile destinations for unforgettable nature experiences.

On request, we are happy to organise a guided tour at daybreak to the Astjoch, the most beautiful viewpoint above St. Lorenzen. While the world is still asleep, you can watch the sun slowly rising behind the surrounding mountains, painting the sky in vivid shades of purple. After this unforgettable natural spectacle, a nourishing breakfast awaits you to start your day perfectly.

The region offers a wide range of opportunities for cycling enthusiasts. The Puster Valley cycle path stretches over a picturesque 61 kilometers and is ideal for all ages and fitness levels. With a special combo ticket, you can flexibly combine your tour with a train ride. Countless other biking tours await you off the main bike path. Those seeking an adrenaline rush will find an exciting bike park with thrilling downhill routes at the Kronplatz: Franz, Uschi, Hans, Andreas – as some trails are beautifully named – await you with varying levels of challenge.

Climbing nearby

The Dolomites are a paradise for climbing enthusiasts. Nearby, you’ll find via ferratas such as the Piz da Peres (C/D), as well as alpine and sport climbing routes from the “Loathna Kofel“ to the Haunold. The climbing park in Aufhofen near Dietenheim (10 minutes by car) offers 10 climbing and 32 boulder routes. The KronAction high ropes course near Issinger Weiher (a lake) is the largest in the country with 140 stations. And if the weather doesn‘t cooperate, the Heliks climbing center in Bruneck offers 2,500 m² of indoor and outdoor climbing opportunities.

Wild water sports and aerial adventures

Rafting, kayaking, canyoning, paragliding

Thanks to the Rienz and Ahr rivers, there are numerous professional providers for rafting and kayaking tours nearby. For a more intense water experience, canyoning allows you to explore gorges while getting an adrenaline rush. Our local mountain, the Kronplatz, is also a popular starting point for paragliding.
